Welcome to Roopkatha

The Backdrop

Kaikala Chetana, a voluntary organization based at Kaikala village under Haripal block in Hooghly district of West Bengal, has been working since 1996 to provide inspiring education to the children of the rural poor in a non-formal set up.

Some of the people, who made and supported Kaikala Chetana, had special interest in the ‘differently abled’ children because of their background in the disability sector.

Miserable lives of the ‘differently abled’ children of the impoverished rural parents – agricultural workers and small farmers – and helplessness of the families led them to think of doing something concrete for this special group of most vulnerable ‘special needs’ children.

The thought eventually evolved in the creation of Roopkatha Foundation. Roopkatha Foundation emerged as a registered organization in December, 2012.
